I recently went through a change with Ham Radio.
Call sign change. My old call sign was KF5HNT. My new call sign is k5HRD.
I like the newer call sign better.
Local area frequencies
I have been living in the Rockwall area since 2003.
The area lakes and smaller city ponds like you find in Royse City are exceptional places for a walk with your pet. They also make great places for monitoring local HAM stations. I would love to get a portable base some day with a ATAS 120. For now the Yaesu VX8 and VX7 will have to do.

Scanners
I just picked up a scanner tbat works really well.the one thing that i like most about it, is the close call feature. If someone is talkinf on a Ham Radio near by, it tells me what channell thier on, what their PL tone is and what repearer split their on. I like the Uniden Bearcat T15X.

Ham Radio
I've found a couple channels that were on the Rockwall Area Radio Club that actually work well for my daily walk and basic listening.
441.525 rpt + pl tone 141.3 and 443.550 rpt + pl tone 162.2
I can pick these channels up on both talkies from inside my home and they come in very clearly on my base station. I'm think about putting my 5kw inverter on my base station which is driven by 2X deep cycle marine batteries.

I am trying to get local repeater information for the Rockwall, Grenville, Fate, and Royse City area. I would like to post Local area information an Ham Radio events.
