I've found a couple channels that were on the Rockwall Area Radio Club that actually work well for my daily walk and basic listening.
441.525 rpt + pl tone 141.3 and 443.550 rpt + pl tone 162.2
I can pick these channels up on both talkies from inside my home and they come in very clearly on my base station. I'm think about putting my 5kw inverter on my base station which is driven by 2X deep cycle marine batteries.
I talked with one of the Guys that is a member of the Rockwall Radio Club this afternoon on 441.525. He seemed to have a lot of information about the events that take place at the Rockwall club. I think going to the club will be worth it. He knew a lot about radios and said that if I had any problems that he could help with setup, antennas, and various other things that I might néed. Very informational. I later programmed my base station and talkies to the Rockwall freqs.
ReplyDeleteI just installed a hand Mic on my VX8. That is going to take some getting use to. And since my radio in my jeep was only a 2meter I went ahead and changed it out to a Yaesu 7900 so that I can pick up all the other channels and talk back to the 451.000 MHz bands. The 7900 terminology is a little different that my other radios, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.
ReplyDeleteI went to a website called Hamnet.com and started studying for my FCC General license. It pretty easy stuff. I should have a HF radio soon to go world wide. I hope I meet someone soon who is willingto make a trade for a HF rig. That's pretty much what's been going on for the last couple days. Have a Great Day.
ReplyDeleteI took the General License test on 12 July 2011 and passed the test. Now getting on the High Frequency nets are just a matter of timing now. Money being the key issue. Hopefully by the end of the year I have a HF rig.
ReplyDeleteI found a really great web-site called Echolink. I can use a software search within the program the picks a specific point in the World and then I load that information into the Echolink path for connection and poof, I'm talking to that part of the world. Your computer has to have speakers and mic to work. The space bar is the TX or ptt key to talk. I pent a couple hours today playing with the software controls and it seems easy enough. That's pretty much all I've done with Ham Radio today.
